Uzbekistan is introducing restrictions on cash payments

From 1 April 2026 onwards, Uzbekistan is introducing restrictions on cash payments.

The following payments and purchases must now be made via non-cash methods only (using cards, apps, or electronic systems):

• Utilities
• All government payments (duties, fines, fees)
• Fuel at gas stations and electric vehicle charging
• Alcohol and tobacco products
• Purchases exceeding 25 million UZS (except for agricultural products)
• Real estate transactions
• Purchase of cars and special machinery (manufactured within the last 10 years)
